Taig Jailbreak

The name TaiG is well known to all jailbreakers but their beginnings weren’t perhaps the best. The first time we came across their name was with the Evasi0n 7 jailbreak from Evad3rs, produced for Christmas 2013. The jailbreak appeared to include another app store, a Chinese one by the name of TaiG and it soon transpired that it was there by agreement with Evad3rs. However, there was one stipulation to the agreement – no pirate apps were to be included in the store. Unfortunately, they were and TaiG was soon removed from the jailbreak.

Since those somewhat rocky beginnings, TaiG has gone on to become one of the most solid jailbreak teams ever seen. Their first jailbreak came in the form of an untethered tool for iOS 8.1.1, produced in December 2014. Understandably, people were somewhat wary of using the tool, believing that it could be malicious but, following stringent testing by prominent jailbreakers, the jailbreak was declared to be sound and safe.

From there, TaiG has gone from strength to strength, producing back to back jailbreaks at an alarming and very welcome pace, from iOS 8 right through to the iOS 9 jailbreak. TaiG has always made sure that their jailbreak tools fully supported as many iOS devices as possible, ensuring that the maximum number of users could enjoy untethered jailbreaks for as long as they continue to produce them.

Supported Devices :

  • iPhone 6S/6S Plus
  • iPhone 6/6 Plus
  • iPhone 5/5C
  • iPhone 4S
  • iPad 2, 3, 4
  • iPad Mini, 2, 3, 4
  • iPad Air, 2
  • iPad Pro
  • iPod Touch 5, 6

In summer of 2015, a new jailbreak team appeared on the scene, called PP. It soon transpired that this unknown team had actually take the code from TaiG and reverse engineered it, releasing it as their own tool. While this caused considerable trouble for TaiG, it did not stop them from continuing to produce top class stable jailbreaks.

Currently, TaiG has no less than 6 jailbreaks under its belt :

  • Taig 1.2.1 – iOS 8 – 8.1.2
  • Taig 2.4.3 – iOS 8 – 8.4
  • Taig 9.0 – iOS 9
  • Taig 9.1 – iOS 9.1
  • Taig 9.2 – iOS 9.2
  • Taig 9.3 – iOS 9.3

It was only with the iOS 9 jailbreaks that TaiG began to provide support for the Mac. Previously, only Windows had been supported, meaning that a jailbreak for Mac users involved having to employ fiddly workarounds.

It is safe to say that Taig is now one of the strongest and most reliable jailbreak teams we have ever seen. They have firmly wiped out all the fears that jailbreakers may have had about them, proving beyond reasonable doubt that we can trust them to continue providing jailbreaks in the years to come

iOS 10 Jailbreak :

With iOS 10 due to be revealed in June at WWDC, attention will soon be turning to a jailbreak for the latest iOS firmware. While we can’t expect to see one before the official release in September 2016, we are expecting TaiG to come through yet again and produce a fly working untethered jailbreak soon after iOS 10 is released.
